I am glad that I can express my love for Lithuania and Life by the strokes of color on canvas and share this feeling with you.
I have practiced pedagogical and creative work since graduating as an art teacher in Siauliai Pedagogical Institute in 1982. I then started teaching art in Dusetos K. Bugos Secondary School in Zarasai district and later continued work at Zarasai Art School. I have been teaching art in Utena Collegesince 1996.
Most of my time is dedicated for creativity: easel and wall painting, graphic art, special compositions, studies of art, organizing exhibitions, participating in various workshops. I have presented my work in numerous group art exhibitions in various museums and galleries of Lithuania and have organized more than 30 solo exhibitions. I am a member of Lithuanian artists’ creative group “Individualists”. In 2018 I was awarded with “Art and Culture of Utena” prize.
For the last decade I dedicated most of my creative time to large scale canvas painting on the subject of Lithuanian art. I feel an endless need and a huge significance of painting in Lithuanian history theme.
What could be more meaningful and sublime than love for your native land? Painting the land of Lithuania, rulers, ancient finds and events related to them, as well as victorious battles.Giving meaning to national symbols and signs is an extraordinary joy and at the same time a huge responsibility. A very important moment in my creative work is my collaboration with historian and archeologist professor, Doctor Eugenijus Jovaisa, to produce illustrations of his publications. Between 2013 and 2016 I created around 60 paintings (illustrations) on the theme of ancient Lithuanian lifestyle.
I alsowork with abstract painting, portraits, and figurative compositions. After spending a lot of time on historical paintings, working with abstractions or portraits seems like a deep relaxation.
